Epic Games, the developer behind the popular battle royale game Fortnite, has announced the schedule for the Fortnite Champions Series (FNCS) 2023 season, including a $10 million prize pool for teams to compete for.

The game organizer made a press release to share details of the 2023 Fortnite Champions Series, while also highlighting the prize pool of $10 million.

“FNCS is back for 2023 with a new Major structure, a $10,000,000 total prize pool, and a Global Championship in-person event!” the statement read.

“Each FNCS Major will be crucial to earning your spot in the Fortnite Champion Series Global Championship 2023 taking place in Copenhagen, Denmark in late 2023. Ready up for FNCS Major 1 kicking off on Thursday, February 2, 2023.”

The upcoming season will bring several changes and new features to the competitive scene of Fortnite, one of which will be the introduction of FNCS Majors, large-scale events for the game. In line with other competitive games, the upcoming Fortnite Champions Series (FNCS) 2023 season will feature four majors, which will act as a lead-up to the Global Championship.

As per Epic Games, the first FNCS Major will have a five-week format featuring competitive matches and players will be awarded points based on their performance. These events will provide players with an opportunity to earn points based on their performance, with the top 40 ranked duos advancing to the Major Grand Finals.

The first Major final (Major 1 Grand Finals) is scheduled to take place in March 2023, with the second and third finals taking place in May and August respectively. Each Major will have a prize pool of $2 million, and the Global Championship will boast a prize pool of $4 million.

Another significant change for the 2023 season is the return to LAN events for competitive Fortnite players. The pandemic led to a long pause in competition, and only a few large-scale LAN esports tournaments took place in 2022. Gamers8, which took place in Saudi Arabia and the FNCS Invitational, were the only large-scale LAN Fortnite tournaments in 2022.

The FNCS 2023 season will feature the return of LAN events with a new edition of the Global Championship taking place in Copenhagen, Denmark, later in the year. The Global Championship will feature the top 75 Fortnite duos of the season, providing players with an opportunity to showcase their skills and compete at a high level in a LAN setting.

In addition to the FNCS Majors and the Global Championship, Epic Games has also announced a Last Chance Major for players who have not yet secured a spot in the finals. This event will give players a final opportunity to earn points and advance to the next stage of the tournament.

The $10 million prize pool for the FNCS 2023 season is lower than the Fortnite World Cup of 2019, which had a prize pool of around $15 million for both the duos and solos. However, the return to LAN events and the introduction of the FNCS Majors will provide players with a new and exciting way to compete and give fans a thrilling viewing experience.

Overmind To Face Divine Vendetta in Intel Arabian Cup

Although a first-place finish in the Intel Arabian Cup Dota 2 season is unreachable for both Overmind and Divine Vendetta, the teams will be hoping to secure fourth spot overall. One could say that either organization has a chance to emerge victorious in this fixture, given their almost identical stats, and it is proving difficult to split the two in the betting.

Overmind have played 14 games so far, winning nine and losing the other five. The Algerian squad currently have 27 points, a whopping 15 behind the tournament leaders, Fox Gaming. Divine Vendetta have won 10 and lost four matches to sit in fourth, a place above their next opponents.

The fixture marks the end of the season for both teams, so bettors and supporters can expect both sides to leave it all out on the field.

In the Trinity Force Puchar Polski playoffs, Spanish side Cream Real Betis and Polish organization 7more7 won their first-round fixtures in the upper bracket last weekend. The two squads now face one another in round two.

Cream Real Betis have won their last four games in the League of Legends competition, most recently against Pirate Sports, winning 2-0. The result saw the Spanish side increase their winning percentage to 56% overall.

7more7 have only one previous fixture behind them, beating fellow Polish squad No Name Esport 2-1. Both clubs will push for a win in this match as neither will want to drop into the lower bracket, as the additional fixtures can put a real strain on the team and their aspirations of winning the competition.

Epic Games has released the schedule and format for the upcoming Fortnite Champions Series finals, which will run from Friday, September 20 to Sunday, September 22.

The Champions Series has focused on Trios over Solos or Duos, giving players a chance to compete with and against the best of the best in the Fortnite esports scene for leaderboard points.

The first-ever Champions Series finals will feature some of the best-known names in the business, including Fortnite World Cup winner Kyle “Bugha” Giersdorf and several other heavyweights.

Two days of heats will culminate in grand finals on Sunday, like so:

  • Friday (7-10pm EST) – Heat 1
  • Saturday (11am-2pm EST) – Heat 2
  • Saturday (3-6pm EST) – Heat 3
  • Saturday (7-10pm EST) – Heat 4
  • Sunday (3-6pm EST) – Grand Finals

The tournament will feature teams from seven different regions – NA East, NA West, Europe, Brazil, Asia, Oceania and the Middle East – all fighting for the largest slice of a US $10 million prize pool.

There are a few teams that stand out from the rest – some due to their superb performances throughout the qualifiers, others because they boast some of the biggest names in the Fortnite world.

The top Trios include:

  • FaZe Mongraal, Mitr0, NRG benjyfishy (Europe)
  • Solary Airwaks, LeStream Vato, Solary Nikof (Europe)
  • E11 Tschiiinken, E11 Stompy, Cooler aqua (Europe)
  • Tfue, Liquid Fiber, diuqil adanahk (NA East)
  • SEN Bugha, Stretch, RS clarityG (NA East)
  • TSM ZexRow, yung calculator, MackWood1x (NA East)
  • 100T Arkhram1x, Bloom Falconer, TSM Vinny1x (NA West)

The only significant format change for the finals is the addition of the heats, where each team will have three hours to complete six fixtures.

Matches will start up every 30 minutes and any team that misses their queue will be automatically placed last, meaning they end the heat with zero eliminations.

Each elimination is worth a point, while scores for finishing positions are as follows:

  • Victory Royale – 15 points
  • Runners-up – 12 points
  • Third-Fourth – nine points
  • Fifth-eighth – six points
  • Ninth-12th – three points

Unlike the Fortnite World Cup, the Champions Series finals are not taking place in a LAN environment; however, there will be commentary broadcasts available on Youtube, Twitch and Mixer.

Only a couple of days after Fortnite Season X began, Epic Games announced the addition of the Fortnite Champion Series as an expansion to the game’s competitive scene.

While not a lot was revealed at first, the developers have since unveiled more details about the tournament, including rules, format, qualification process, and the size of the prize pool.

The Fortnite Champion Series kicks off on Saturday, August 17 with a three-round Trios event, following which there will be four more events in each of the following four weeks.

The FNCS will use a similar format to one we saw at the Fortnite World Cup Online Open, meaning that after each weekend event, the top teams from each region will receive a ticket for the Fortnite Season X Finals.

Epic has also implemented a new way for competitors to qualify, offering their loyal player-base an additional road to the Fortnite esports scene.

Teams that will not advance to finals via weekend regional events can now earn invites based on their Series Points, which will be awarded to them each weekend based on their final placement in the events.

By implementing this qualifying system, Epic Games stated it will “value consistency over the course of the season” in addition to “rewarding outstanding performances players make when competing in individual weeks”.

In the same post, the developers also revealed they have set aside US $10 million prize money to be given away in the course of FNCS tournaments across all regions.

To better prepare themselves for FNCS campaign, players and teams can participate in Solo and Trio Cash Cups that are set to take place each Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Those events will not only serve as practice runs but will have their own prize pools, the size of which remains a mystery for now.

On top of revealing their plans for the future, Epic Games addressed the issues caused by B.R.U.T.E. and confirmed a few bug fixes and significant nerfs.

The majority of the player base will be happy that the terror caused by B.R.U.T.E. will be lessened with the implementation of a laser targeting system for his rockets, which is said to have directional audio to help indicate which way it is pointing.

On top of new additions, Epic also plans on fixing a few mobility bugs that allowed players to exploit B.R.U.T.E.s boost mechanic, all of which will come to live servers with patch v10.10.

Even before the dust has settled in New York following the first-ever Fortnite World Cup, a question mark has appeared over the future of Fortnite esports and what the second half of 2019 might bring.

After a $100 million event, expectations are high as Epic Games looks to raise the bar for esports tournaments worldwide.

With the long-awaited launch of Fortnite Season X on Thursday, August 1, we were also introduced to the Fortnite Champion Series – an in-game weekly tournament with dedicated prize pools and a leaderboard to track the progress and performance of each player.

Like the Fortnite World Cup, this new game mode will feature online qualifiers every weekend that will lead the top teams to the Season X Championship in September. The qualifiers will kick off on Saturday, August 17 and run over five weeks.

Unlike the World Cup, the FCS will operate in Trio mode for its first season, meaning only teams of three will be able to compete in the series.

It was also revealed that the Fortnite Champion Series will provide the top players with generous prize pools for each weekly event.

While Epic is keeping the size of the pots a secret for now, the company has hinted that millions of dollars could be put on the line every week.

Those who prefer to rely on their own skills rather than those of teammates will be happy to hear Season X will feature Fortnite Cash Cup tournaments.

These single-day competitions will give players the opportunity to battle over separate prize pools reserved for Cash Cup events.

The first Solo Cash Cup is set to kick off on Wednesday, August 21, with four more to follow.

Wednesday events will require participants to be at Contender level or above, whereas Thursday events will require Champion status.

Cash Cup will also have its own edition for Trios, set to begin on Friday, August 23, followed by three more tournaments in the course of next three weeks.
